DESIRE BEHIND
OUR STORY
Behind perfection, there is desire.
We live in a time obsessed with restraint.
Be thinner. Eat cleaner.
Count everything.
Suppress the appetite.
And now, increasingly, eliminate it altogether.
DESIRE BEHIND was born as a quiet rebellion against that idea.
Our work takes icons of beauty, intelligence, power, discipline, and perfection—and gives them something wonderfully ordinary: desire.
A beauty queen with a donut.
A genius craving sugar.
An immaculate Hollywood face caught taking another bite.
The contrast is intentional.
Because underneath every polished image is a human being. And human beings want things.
We are not interested in glorifying excess.
We are interested in questioning a culture that increasingly treats appetite itself as something to conquer.
In the age of extreme thinness, optimization, and GLP-1s, there is something almost rebellious about simply enjoying a donut.
Not because sugar is virtuous.
Not because indulgence should be constant.
But because pleasure does not always need to be optimized away.
Eat well. Move your body. Take care of yourself.
And sometimes, eat the damn donut.
That first sweet bite.
The frosting on your fingers.
The completely unnecessary second bite.
These tiny pleasures are part of being alive.
DESIRE BEHIND celebrates the tension between discipline and indulgence, perfection and appetite, the image we present and the desires we keep behind it.
Our signature works strip their subjects and surroundings of color, leaving one object unapologetically alive: the food they desire.
In selected pieces, hand-applied details transform that desire into something tactile, excessive, and impossible to ignore.
Because perfection is beautiful.
But desire is human.
Life is short.
Have the donut.
